1. Facing Qiblah, make intention (niyah) for Salaatul Janazah: Without Iqaamah the Imam will recite Takbeer. You will the raise your hands between the shoulders & ears (1a) and recite Takbeer. ﺍﻟﻠﱠــﻪ ــﺮ ﺃﹶﻛﹾﺒ Allahu Akbar Allah is the Greatest. After the first Takbeer, fold your arms (1b) and recite Surah Fateha : 1.In the Name of Allah, the Most Gracious, the Most Merciful. 2. All praise is for Allah, Lord of the Worlds. 3. The Most Gracious, The Most Merciful. 4. Master of the Day of Judgment. 5. You (Alone) we worship, and You (Alone) we ask for help.6. Guide us to the Straight Way, 7. The way of those upon whom You have bestowed Grace, not of those who earned Your Anger, nor of those who went astray. 2. Then say Takber: ــﺮ ﺃﹶﻛﹾﺒ ﺍﻟﻠﱠــﻪ Allahu Akbar (Allah is the Greatest) raising your hands (2a). Then send blessings upon the Prophet (sallallaahu ‘alaihi wasallam) as in the Attahiyaat (Durood-e-Ebrahim) (2b) recited in Salaah namely, : ﺍﻟﻠﻬﻢ ﺻﻞ ﻋﻠـﻰ ﳏﻤـﺪ ﻭﻋﻠﻰ ﺁﻝ ﳏﻤﺪ ﻛﻤـﺎ ﺻـﻠﻴﺖ ﻋﻠـﻰ ﺇﺑـﺮﺍﻫﻴﻢ ﻭﻋﻠـﻰ ﺁﻝ ﺇﺑﺮﺍﻫﻴﻢ ﺇﻧﻚ ﲪﻴﺪ ﳎﻴ ـﺪ , ﺍﻟﻠ ـﻬﻢ ﺑ ـﺎﺭﻙ ﻋﻠ ـﻰ ﳏﻤ ـﺪ ﻭﻋﻠﻰ ﺁﻝ ﳏﻤﺪ ﻛﻤـﺎ ﺑﺎﺭﻛﺖ ﻋﻠ ـﻰ ﺇﺑ ـﺮﺍﻫﻴﻢ ﻭﻋﻠ ـﻰ ﺁﻝ ﺇﺑﺮﺍﻫﻴﻢ ﺇﻧـﻚ ﲪﻴـﺪ ﳎـﻲﺩ Allahumma Salli Ala Muhammadin Wa Ala Aali Muhammadin Kamaa Sallayta Ala Ibraheema Wa Ala Aali Ibraheema Innaka Hameedun Majeed. Allahumma Baarik Alaa Muhammadin Wa Ala Aali Muhammadin Kamaa Baarakta Alaa Ibraheema Wa ALaa Aali Ibraheema Innaka Hameedum Majeed. Oh Allah! Send blessings upon Muhammad and upon the descendants of Bismillahi r-rahmani r-rahim ــﻢﹺ ﺍﻟﻠﹼــﻪ ﺑﹺﺴ ﻴﻢ ﺣ ّ ــﻦﹺ ﺍﻟــﺮ َ ﻤـ ﺣ ّ ﺍﻟﺮ Al hamdu lillahi rab’bil alamin ﺏ ﺭ ﻠﱠـ ـﻪ ﻟ ــﺪ ﻤ ﺍﻟﹾﺤ ﲔ ــ ـﺎﻟﹶﻤ ﺍﻟﹾﻌ Ar rahmani r -rahim ﻴﻢ ﺣ ّ ﲪـــﻦﹺ ﺍﻟــﺮ ّ ﺍﻟﺮ Maliki yawmi d-din ﻳﻦﹺ ﻡﹺ ﺍﻟــﺪ ــﻮ ﻳ ــﻚ ﺎﻟ ﻣ Iyyaka na’budu wa iyyaka nasta’in ـ ـﺪ ﺒ ﻌ ﻧ ـ ـﺎﻙ ﺇﹺﻳ ﲔ ﻌ ـــﺘ ﺴ ﻧ ـــﺎﻙ ﺇﹺﻳ ﻭ Ihdina s-sirat al-mustaqim ﺍﻁﹶ ــﺮ ﺎ ﺍﻟﺼ ﻧ ــﺪ ﺍﻫ ﻴﻢ ﻘ ــــﺘ ﺴ ﺍﻟﹾﻤ Sirat al-ladina an’amta alayhim ﻳﻦ ﺍﻁﹶ ﺍﻟﱠــﺬ ــﺮ ﺻ ﻬﹺـ ـﻢ ﻠﹶﻴ ﻋ ـ ـﺖ ﻤ ﻌ ﺃﹶﻧ Gayril magdubi alayhim walad dallin ــﺮﹺ ﻏﹶﻴ ـ ـﺎﻟﱢﲔ ﻟﹶـ ـﺎ ﺍﻟﻀ ﻭ ﻬﹺـ ـﻢ ﻠﹶﻴ ـ ـﻮﺏﹺ ﻋ ﻀ ﻐ ﺍﻟﹾﻤ Muhammad as You sent blessings upon Ibraheem and the descendants of Ibraheem; indeed, You are the Praiseworthy, the Glorious. Oh Allah, Glorify Muhammad and the descendants of Muhammad as You did Glorify Ibraheem and the descendants of Ibraheem; indeed, You are the Praiseworthy, the Glorious. It is also sufficient to say: ﺍﻟﻠﻬﻢ ﺻـﻞﱢ ﻋﻠ ـﻰ ﳏﻤﺪ Allahuma Salli ala Sayyidina Muhammadin 3. Then say Takbeer: ــﺮ ﺃﹶﻛﹾﺒ ﺍﻟﻠﱠــﻪ Allahu Akbar (Allah is the Greatest) raising the hands, (3a) and recite the Duaa for the decesead (3b): ـﻒ ﺍﻋ ﻭ ـﻪ ﻋﺎﻓ ﻭ ـﻪ ﻤ ﺣ ﺍﺭ ﻭ ﻟﹶ ـﻪ ـﺮ ﺍﻏﹾﻔ ّ ﺍﻟﻠ ـﻬﻢ ﻠﹶــﻪ ﺧ ﺪ ﻣ ــﻊ ّ ﺳ ﻭ ﻭ ﻟﹶــﻪ ﺰ ﻧ ﺃﹶﻛﹾــﺮﹺﻡ ، ﻭ ــﻪ ﻨ ﻋ ــﻪ ّ ﻘ ﻧ ، ﻭ ﺩ ــﺮ ﺍﻟﺒ ﻭﺍﻟﺜﻠــﺞ ﻭ ِ ﺑﺎﳌــﺎﺀ ــﻠﹾﻪ ِ ﺍﻏﹾﺴ ﻭ ــﺾ ﻴ ﺍﻷﺑ ﺏ ــﻮ ّ ﺍﻟﺜﹶ ــﺖ ﻴ ّ ﻘﹶ ﺍﳋﻄﺎﻳــﺎ ﻛﻤــﺎ ﻧ ــﻦ ﻣ ــﲑﺍﹰ ﻣــﻦ ﺩﺍﺭﹺﻩ ﺩﺍﺭﺍﹰ ﺧ ﻟﹾــﻪ ﺪ ﺃﹶﺑ ﺲﹺ، ﻭ ﻧ ّ ﺍﻟــﺪ ــﻦ ﻣ ـﻦ ـﺮﺍﹰ ﻣ ﻴ ـﺔﹶ ﺧ ﺟ ﻭ ﺯ ، ﻭ ـﻪ ﻠ ﺃﹶﻫ ـﻦ ـﺮﺍﹰ ﻣ ﻴ ـﻼﹰ ﺧ ﺃﹶﻫ ﻭ ﻠﹾــﻪ ﺧ ﺃﹶﺩ ، ﻭ ﺟﹺــﻪ ﻭ ﺯ ــﺎﺭﹺ ﺍﻟﻨ ــﻦ ﻣ ــﻪ ّ ﺠﹺ ﻧ ــﺔﹶ ﻭ ّ ،ﺍﳉﹶﻨ ـﺮﹺ ﺍﻟﻘﹶﺒ ـﺬﺍﺏ ـﻪ ﻋ ﻗ ﻭ Allahum’ma ghfirlahu Warhamhu Wa Aafihi Wa’foo Anhu WaAkrim Nuzulahoo Wa Was’sa Madkhalahu Wa Aghsilhu BilMaa’i Wath Thalji Wal Baradi Wa Naq’qahi minal KhataayaKama Yunaq’qa Saubal Abyadu minadanasi wa abdilhu daaran khairam min Daarihi wa Ahlan Khairam min Ahlihi Wa Zawjan Khairam min Zawjihi wa Adkhil hul al Jan’na Wa iheezuhu min Azab alqabr wamin Azaabin Naar - “O Allah! forgive and have mercy upon him, grant him well being and pardon him and receive him honorably. Expand his place of entry and bathe him with water, snow and ice and cleanse him of sin as you cleanse a white garment from dirt. Exchange his worldly home for a better home and his family for a better family and his spouse for a better spouse. Admit him into Paradise and protect him from the punishment of the grave and the torment of the fire.” 4. Then say the final Takbeer: ــﺮ ﺃﹶﻛﹾﺒ ﺍﻟﻠﱠــﻪ Allahu Akbar (Allah is the Greatest) raising the hands (4a) and recite the following (4b) : ﻻﹶ ّ ـــﻢ ﻬ ّ ﺍﻟﻠﹶ ﻩ ـــﺪ ﻌ ـــﺎ ﺑ ّ ﻨ ﻔﹾﺘ ﻻﹶ ﺗ ، ﻭ ﻩ ـــﺮ ـــﺎ ﺃﹶﺟ ﻨ ﺮﹺﻣ ﺤ ﺗ ﻭﺍﻏﻔﺮ ﻟﻨـﺎ ﻭﳍـﻮ ﺑﺮﲪﺘـﻚ ﻳـﺎ ﺍﺭﺣـﻢ ﺍﻟـﺮﺍﲪﲔ Allahuma la Tahrimna Ajrahoo wa laa Taftin’na Ba’dahoo Wagh firlana wa lahoo bi rahmatikaYaa Arhamar Raahimeen - “O Allah! Do not deprive us of his reward and after him, do not put us in fitna and pardon us and him and with him have Mercy upon us through your Mercy, O Most Merciful.” After reciting this D’ua, make the two Salaams by turning your head once to the right (4c) and once while turning your head to the left (4d).This will terminate the Janazah Salaah. If some of the Muslims perform it, the remaining ones will not be held up for sin. It is, however, a duty of every member of the Muslim community to attend the funeral. All conditions for regular Salaah are required such as: Spiritual cleanliness, physical cleanliness, facing Qibla and intention.
